ACH Research Award

Annually the Alliance for Camp Health (ACH) seeks to acknowledge the newest research efforts in camp health. The research committee requests nominations and selects a Research Award winner to highlight the exemplary work performed by individuals or groups.

Description

  • The mission of the Alliance for Camp Health (ACH) is “Working for healthier camp communities.” With that mission in mind, this award is given annually to recognize individuals or groups that have advanced camp nursing, camp health, and/or camp safety through research. Award nominees may be researchers, students, and/or professionals. Nominations are accepted for this award throughout the year and are due by December 31st of each year. The ACH Research committee will review applications and select the award recipient. Awards are presented during the annual ACH National Symposium the following February.
  • The award winner will receive a plaque, $200, one year of free membership in ACN, and national recognition through ACH’s website and social media outlets.

Criteria

Efforts recognized through the ACH Health Research Award must meet the following criteria:

  • Research must be novel, innovative, and/or address an important question
  • Research must build the existing body of knowledge related to camp healthcare and/or wellness within the camp experience
  • Project must be completed (data analysis finished and findings identified).
  • Nominee(s) must be willing to submit a research synopsis for ACH’s professional publication, CompassPoint

  • Charlotte Megret – 2024 – “No Connectivity, Better Connections: Teenagers’ Experiences of a Phone-free Summer Camp in the United States”
  • Caryn Herring – 2023 – “Outcomes Following Participation in a Support-Based Summer Camp for Children who Stutter”
  • Donna Gregory – 2022 – “The Influence of a Peer Support Camp on Mitigating Emotional Distress in Siblings of Children with Cancer.”
