Nikki Alvarado-Hobbs

Executive Assistant

Coming to ACH with a background in health and fitness and emergency medicine as well as executive assistant, Nikki is driven by the desire to serve others. She is the spouse of a retired career Army veteran and mom of two very active teens so organization and attention to detail are a must in her world. She is excited to support Tracey, John, our Care Team, and you, our ACH Members. Her efforts will empower us to further advance ACH’s mission to create healthier camp communities nationwide. 

Nikki believes all kids deserve the services and resources ACH provides to camps and looks forward to being a part of the future growth of this organization.

Jenny Coobs

Adminstrative Assistant

Joining the ACH team in 2022, Jenny bring organizational skills, a curiosity, and the practice of running a busy home with her. With an eagerness to serve and support, she finds joy in assisting the ACH staff and members in a variety of ways. As a mom herself, she understands the profound importance of caring for the needs and growth of children, so she is excited to be gaining a greater understanding and appreciation of what camp can offer children and families. Working behind the scenes assisting with the office functions keeps her busy!

Tracey Gaslin,PhD, CPNP, FNP-BC, CRNI, RN-BC

Chief Executive Officer

A previous professor and dual certified nurse practitioner in pediatrics and adults.  Tracey completed her PhD in Educational and Organizational Leadership and taught for 10 years specializing in camp nursing, service leadership, physiology, and hematology. Dr. Gaslin periodically works as a camp consultant and legal consultant and publishes the majority of her work in the areas of bleeding disorders, pediatric development, camp nursing, behavioral health, and service leadership.

Dr. Gaslin served as the Medical Director at a special needs camp for six years where she directed care for children with chronic disease, disability, and life-threatening illness.   She  currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer for the Alliance for Camp Health and recently (2020) co-authored a textbook: Camp Nursing; The Basics and Beyond. Tracey is passionate about every child having a camp experience and learning that they can achieve great things in life.

John Hamilton, MA

Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer

John is a strategic leader in the camp, out-of-school time (OST) and youth development fields. He currently serves as Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer for the Alliance for Camp Health (ACH). John has a deep understanding of mental, emotional, and social (MESH) health needs of youth, national program expansion and a hope-filled perspective. Prior to ACH he served as the National Director for Camp HOPE America where he collaborated with city/county government, national leaders, clinicians, psychologists, and community-based organizations.

John has an MA in Leadership and Cultural Justice, has been named ACA’s Subject Matter expert on MESH and Trauma-Informed Care at camp and is a former Executive Director of a camp near Lake Tahoe. With perspective from hands-on experience overseeing fifty-plus programs around the country, being onsite at an average of ten different camps per summer, and consulting organizations, his voice will help restore belief in the future of our work and guide us to discover ways to create healthier summer learning communities.

Danielle Mars, LMSW, M.Ed

Program Director

Danielle is a self-described macro social worker with micro tendencies. She is an experienced non profit professional, with over 10 years of experience in the fields of intimate partner violence, mental wellness, and substance abuse. She currently serves as the Program Director with the  Alliance for Camp Health.  Danielle believes in the power of community and collaboration and has been able to see lives transformed through that power. Danielle has a M.Ed In Community Counseling and MS in Social Work.

Mary Marugg, RN, WFR

Operations Director

Mary is passionate about camp, and believes that a healthy camp experience will develop kids to be the best they can be. Connected to ACH since the 1980’s, Mary is committed to providing the resources camps need to have healthy camp communities. An RN and certified Wilderness First Responder, she has extensive wilderness experience, most familiar with the mountains and deserts of the Southwest. She and her husband are Founding Directors of Sonlight Camp in Colorado, she continues in her role as Camp Director. She is grateful for 45 years of living and working at camp.

Alexandra Skrocki

Research Assistant

Alexandra (Alex) is a PhD student with the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management at Clemson University. In addition to her studies, she is a research assistant for the Alliance for Camp Health. Through this position, Alex is working with the broader research committee to advance research on youth mental, emotional, and social health.

Alex received her B.S. and M.S. from the Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences, Texas A&M University. Additionally, Alex received a certificate in Public Management from the Bush School of Government and Public Service. Realizing the gap between effective youth programming and execution, her research interests are centered around positive youth development programs and effective evaluation of youth service organizations. Alex’s main directive is to craft actionable, effective, safe, and research-driven out-of-school time programs with opportunities for self-discovery and positive experiences.

Kayla Waterhouse

Creative Director

A floral design and business background is only a small bit of why Kayla is great at her job. Curious, creative and passionate about camp Kayla understands why all camp health services need the resources that ACH has developed and is currently developing. She is delighted to have the opportunity to assist in delivering those resources to all ACH members, and the greater camp community. She looks forward to getting to know you a bit better.
