The Alliance of Camp Health has been built by many individuals who contributed expertise, curiosity and professional skill. Susan Baird will be deeply missed for all that she contributed to the Association of Camp Nursing, and we are saddened that she passed just before ACN started the new chapter as the Alliance for Camp Health. A long time ACN member, Susan served as CompassPoint editor for over 10 years. During this time, she wrote many articles, mentored numerous individuals, encouraged and promoted our publication, and served ACN members in many impactful ways. Her work has been foundational during our formative years and her influence instrumental to our organizational success. The CompassPoint writing award is named in her honor and given annually to individuals following in her foosteps.
Susan also served on the Healthy Camps committee in the early years, championing the work of creating healthy camp communities.
Susan is deeply missed. Her wisdom, joy and laughter, and her deep belief in the camp experience for all kids were immeasurable contributions to the camp environment. Memorial gifts to ACH may be made in Susan’s name.
