On May 12th the Alliance for Camp Health (ACH) and Tickit Health (Tickit) launched the My View MESH (+) Screening Project. Our goal is to improve the provision of care in the summer enrichment setting by using Digital Empathy as a screening framework to promote wellbeing. The work directly supports ACH’s commitment to research and the desire to capture youth voice as we expand the body of knowledge that directs camp health services.
The My View tool, designed by Tickit, is evidence-based, child and youth focused, strength-based and trauma informed. Created by subject matter experts, the aim is to provide campers a sense of belonging and reassurance before their camp experience. The engaging and digitally empathetic design of My View, results in better and more complete Mental, Emotional, and Social Health; MESH (+) data for both frontline staff and support staff (onsite health care providers and behavioral health specialists) to support participants. We believe the tool creates trust and invokes a willingness within a person to share their unique voice, transforming transactional relationships into trusting relationships.
The purpose of the research is to better understand how the summer youth camp community is experiencing and responding to issues associated with the MESH (+) needs of youth. To this end, the study will examine MESH issues experienced by youth participants in out-of-school time settings such as camp and examine tools, measures, and resources useful for MESH screening, assessment, and response.
