Maintaining Healthy Communities When It’s Hot Outside
- Hydration. Provide water and non-sugar drinks, counselors are key in making it fun!
- Consider high level activities during cooler times of the day. Intentionally planning activities out of direct sun in the heat of the day.
- Appropriate use of clothing and sunscreen. Light clothing to help prevent sunburn.
- Training for counseling and activity staff to watch for heat illness, and know steps to take for prevention and immediate management.
Intentional education and providing resources will help keep campers and staff safe in extreme heat and humid environments.
