I am head nurse for a sleep away camp with no Wifi Access.
One thing I have noticed is that most of my nurses are unfamiliar with common skin conditions that may present at camp (Impetigo, poison ivy rash, etc)
Do you have any resources we can potentially keep at camp in the form of a book or pamphlet?
Years ago I invested in a couple of dermatology textbooks. Although they have been updated many times, I still reference my old copies. You should be able to purchase on Amazon (even if you purchase an older edition)
Fitzpatrick’s Colour Atlas and Synopsis of Clinical Dermatology
or
Habif’s Clinical Dermatology: A colour guide…
Both textbooks I’ve found valuable when I can’t look online!
Great question. This is one we get quite often. As nurses in acute care settings, we don’t have to manage dermatologic alterations as a general rule. Kathleen is correct, a photo atlas of derm conditions can be quite helpful. You can also sometimes take a picture of the rash and send to your prescriber of record who can likely help you with identification and consideration for treatment.
