ParticipantThis year instead of the campers coming to the health center for daily med admin times, the camp nurse will administer medications at the dining hall to minimize crossing over of cohorts. My plan is to prep meds in the health center, separate by program and then haul them to the dining hall and set up a mini-dispensary. Then the health aid will call up the girls by program. Any words of wisdom or ideas for organization? I have some ideas in mind to minimize the chaos but any advice would help.

Sounds like you have a reasonable plan. Depending on how many health care providers or assistants you have, another option is not to have the groups come to you in the dining hall, but for the healthcare staff to go to the cohort and give the medication within their groups.
Another thought is any health services you can provide outside is a great benefit as well. Can you give medications outside as they enter the dining hall? Is the camp planning on providing any meals outside to introduce ventilation as a prevention measure. We don’t know your camp structure or layout, but doing as much outside as possible (activities, meals, health servcies) is an important consideration.
Best to you

ParticipantWe have found trying to give meds in the dining hall pretty chaotic, and only plan for breakfast indooors, with 2 seatings. I think we are going to have them come to the med lodge by cohort for the medication.

ParticipantThank you Tracey! Yes. I have an assistant for the first time in six years so I’m looking forward to the help. And I’ve thought about myself and the assistant splitting up nighttime meds where we go to the living areas but keep the main med passes during the mealtimes.
Catherine. I’ve had that same thought. My issue is coordination and making sure the cohorts (programs) don’t pile up outside my front door. Maybe even my assistant can go to the dining hall and escort cohorts one at a time? The distance from the health center and the dining hall is about a football field away so we’ll get some exercise for sure. But that’s camp! a Lots of ideas!
I’ve tried to access the webinar posted about med admin during Covid-19 but have been unsuccessful. It says the link is not available?
